Default Healer Monk Armor: Owie!

I used basic Wanderer's armor for my 20 Mo/Me Healer; and it worked great until the Dragon's Lair. OH MY! It was terrible!

I died quite often and thankfully had a very helpful and forgiving team. I was a major liability because of my lack of armor.

Should I just buy armor from the crafters in Droknar's Forge? Or is it necessary to start wandering around finding collectors to get decent protection?

Also, I would prefer the armor that looks like a skirt instead of the pantsuit (I do not like that look much)

As far as a weapon and runes go: I suppose I can buy them there to?

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

umm. well its kinda expected that a lvl 20 character would at least have droks armor. I recommend it so as to have max armor. I hope you dont mean the basic wanderer's armor from ascalon!!

Droknar's armor isn't neccessary for Dragon's Lair, since if you're playing the game through (not being run) you have no reason to even know Droknar's exists yet. :P But yeah, once you've reached Droknar's Forge, it's really a good idea to upgrade your armor.

Monk dying should not be an issue if the healing monk stays where he/she belongs. The only monk skirt is Wanderer's 1.5k and 15k.

I ran a Ne/Mo all the way through ascention wearing Ascalon armor....never much of an Issue. After finishing off the facets of glint (and getting stomped by the great and powerful beastie in her full glory)...I found it a must to upgrade (especially if running with henchies)...I have three sets of Drok's armor and have been exploring the advantages of each...with the right weapon combo ans scar pattern, I have 69 energy...gotta love the scars! Before anyone wonders why I did such a silly thing, I did it because I could...fourth character and wanted a challenge.

I'm at the D'alessia Seaboad mission and still have 40AL armor (ranger - like in Ascalon).

I have Druid's set from Loin's Arch - but its still the same def as the Ascalon armor - and its fine so far.

Thank you for the replies I purchased a set of Wanderer's armor at Droknar's Forge.

Then I went to Elona's to capture a signet and ran the mission there a few times. Now the armor is a bit better, but I still get beaten down very rapidly if a monster gets on me. If the Warrior cannot get his attention fast, I tend to die even while spamming heals on myself.

I suppose I had hoped to be a little more resilient under fire. My team is depending on my for heals and I let them down by being so ... squishable.

Monks are always squishable.

'The warrior not getting there' in time suggests you're too far forward
when moving with the party. Let the meat puppets go in first, and you'll
live a lot longer.

Mercy no, I cower in the back with the rest of the squishies. What I said was: 'If the Warrior cannot get his attention fast, I tend to die even while spamming heals on myself.'

Sometimes monsters do not behave and can actually attack casters!

You may want to look closely at the skills you bring.

My monk tends to run with a mix of protection and healing skills.

When in an fight, lots of times I've had to buckle down and wait out a fight to let the elementalists have a stationary target on which to rain death or to wait for the fighter to finish their current target.

Reversal of Fortune helps.

Of course, you're not a stationary target either. Feel free to run past the warrior and drop aggro on them.

There are collectors pieces in the desert if you'd rather get your max level armor that way. Usually its a good idea to upgrade one piece of armor every time you get to a city that has a higher level of armor.

When I got to the Hotsprings I made my chest armor better, when I got to the Amnoon Oasis, my leg set got the upgrade. When I was in the desert, I just grabbed two pieces of Collector's armor.
